Michael W. Burris, M.D.                                                    Harris S. Rose, M.D.

Michael W. Burris, M.D.

Dr. Burris was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with honors from the McCombs School of Business while completing his premedical curriculum. This was followed by obtaining a medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he also completed a five year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, serving as chief resident in 2005-2006.

Dr. Burris gained extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma and reconstructive surgery while training at a busy Level I Trauma center within the Houston Medical Center. He then elected to continue his training with a subspecialty fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the University of Kentucky. Fellowship involved significant training in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee as well as complex knee ligament surgery. ACL Reconstruction was a focus of training including the latest techniques in the surgical management of this injury. Dr. Burris also assisted in taking care of multiple collegiate athletic programs during fellowship, including the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Starting an orthopaedic practice in Austin was an aspiration for Dr. Burris since beginning his training, and he is excited to now be providing orthopaedic care to the Austin community and surrounding areas. Dr. Burris lives with his wife, who grew up in Austin, and two children.
